Barbara received her Bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University and her Master’s degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Minnesota and is a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives. She has worked in a variety of primary care and specialty practices including cardiology, orthopedics, and gastroenterology over the last 35 years.
She began her practice management career in a small family practice office on the Oregon coast. During her time there, she learned how to manage a practice with limited resources. From there, she worked with an internal medicine and cardiology group in California. In 1992, she returned to the Portland area and worked at Providence Portland Medical Center, where she worked with the leadership team to create Providence Medical Group (PMG). By 2001, she was the Director of Operations over PMG’s 11 clinics and urgent centers. She worked as a consultant for orthopedic groups before joining Gastroenterology Specialists of Oregon (GSO) in 2004. She supported GSO as they joined The Oregon Clinic in 2013.
Barbara was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) in 2023 for her work on ASGE’s Practice Operations Committee.
She believes in a collaboration, teamwork and process improvement and enjoys mentoring new practice administrators. In her free time, Barbara enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
