Jill Arena – Managing Partner
Ms. Arena is the Managing Partner of Health e Practices, LLC and leads its consulting operations. She is a successful entrepreneur, having co-founded GreenField Health in 2001, which grew into a multimillion-dollar business. Having earned her Fellowship from the American College of Medical Practice Executives in 1999, Jill has extensive experience in revenue cycle management, practice operations, practice transitions and leadership coaching. She also serves on the boards and executive committees of a number of physician groups in a key advisor role.
Over the past 30 years, Jill has guided the launch of more than 70 new medical clinics in multiple states. During her career with Health e Practices, Ms. Arena has served several medical groups in interim leadership positions as CEO and Administrator while helping them conduct successful national recruitment efforts. She led Health e Practices in developing a Clinic Operations Assessment tool that has been administered to many medical groups throughout the country. The assessment focuses on the 8 domains from MGMA and has been used to successfully complete turnarounds at several clinics.
Prior to founding Health e Practices, Ms. Arena worked in various clinic operations positions and as a practice management consultant. She started her career as an auditor for a Big 8 public accounting firm and subsequently spent five years as the Director of Physician Services for Providence Health System, where she was responsible for the operations of fifteen clinics and provided matrix management for eight others. She oversaw the risk contracting, budgeting and physician compensation systems as well as technology implementations.
Jill derives a great deal of professional satisfaction from guiding clients through important transitions in their practices to assure that their businesses thrive. She wholeheartedly believes that the practice of medicine can and should be both financially viable and joyful.
Jonathan Shorter – Business Development Director & Senior Consultant
Jonathan Shorter has nearly 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. He is passionate about improving the work environment through culture and process improvement techniques.
Jonathan previously served as Assistant Director of Marketing for the Northwest division of Adventist Health. After completing his MBA, Jonathan was tapped to open and operate a new hospital outpatient department specializing in wound care and hyperbaric medicine, managing the facility and associated physician practices as well as the hospital’s diabetes education program.
Jonathan’s experience also includes practice management in community health and administrative leadership at Oregon Anesthesiology Group, one of the largest anesthesia practices west of the Mississippi. At OAG, Jonathan was responsible for managing and promoting the company’s relationships with over 30 ASCs in Oregon. Most recently, Jonathan helped launch a new pediatric surgery center, including accreditation, securing commercial payor contracts, rebranding and recruiting a nurse manager to take over full-time facility management.
Jonathan’s memberships in local and national organizations include MGMA (Medical Group Management Association), OMGMA (Oregon’s MGMA chapter), ASCA (Ambulatory Surgery Center Association) for which he has advocated with legislators in Washington DC, OASCA (Oregon’s ASCA chapter) and HCCO (Health Care Communicators of Oregon).
Darcy Crisp – Consulting
Darcy has more than a decade of healthcare leadership experience. She started in the ambulatory system at the local hospital in La Grande, Oregon. There she developed a passion for healthcare, and within a year, Darcy joined the management team at a multi-specialty clinic, where she worked diligently with the team to improve culture and meet best practices.
Darcy moved to Portland and managed practices in various settings, with her most recent being a large physician-owned organization where she managed a branch with 30 providers and 15 specialties before joining Health e Practices. She became a subject matter expert in the Comprehensive Primary Care Plus (CPC+) and Patient Centered Primary Care Home (PCPCH) programs as well as corporate culture development. Coupled with her previous experience with Rural Health Clinic (RHC) certification and Joint Commission, she is familiar with a wide variety of state and federal programs. During this time, she completed her MBA and continues on her quest to learn more about the business of medicine.
Darcy enjoys working within the clinic setting to help improve efficiency, mentor team members, and create a positive culture. She believes that every team member brings something valuable to the table. As an Eastern Oregon native, she enjoys living in the mountains and looks forward to helping organizations thrive and grow.
D’Ann Sprinkle – Special Teams Manager
D’Ann has more than 15 years of experience in revenue cycle management, contracting, credentialing, recruiting, personnel management, and clinic operations. She enjoys working with providers and their teams to identify areas of opportunity to step outside of their comfort zone, resulting in improved workflows, greater accuracy, and increased job satisfaction. She says, “I believe that going beyond your comfort zone can be tough in the beginning, a bit of chaos in the middle, and amazing in the end!”
D’Ann’s journey has included managing Family Practice, Urgent Care, OB Gyn, and Otolaryngology clinics, as well as a DME provider specializing in muscle stimulation and bone growth. Most recently, before joining Health e Practices, she had turned her attention to the managed care insurance world, where she led a utilization management team for a regional Medicaid MCO.
As our Manager of Special Teams, D’Ann is here to guide our clients through their transitions. With her experienced background in all aspects of Revenue Cycle Management and Clinic Administration, she is able to offer expertise in starting a new practice, winding one down, and anything that comes in between.A Pacific Northwest native, D’Ann enjoys a great cup of coffee, hiking, spending hours at Powell’s City of Books, and rooting for the Portland Timbers.
Amy Eytel – Billing Manager
Amy brings more than 25 years of medical billing and revenue cycle management experience to our team. She began her career in Florida in an oncology practice, and fondly recalls typing data onto HCFA forms “back in the day”. Her career has grown including overseeing billing offices in many different subspecialties, and spanning many different software platforms including Centricity, IMS and Kareo. She now runs our highly performing team of revenue cycle specialists and assists with on-boarding of our new clients, and development and monitoring of our internal systems to assure that our clients receive excellent results.
Noelle Ash – Billing Manager
Noelle brings more than 15 years of medical billing and revenue cycle management experience to our team. She began her career in a podiatry practice which included assisting with 2 office remodels and managing the transition of 3 different software platforms in 10 years. She has been managing multiple subspecialties for the last 4 years spanning multiple software platforms including eClinicalWorks, Centricity, CareCloud, Kareo and Traknet.
She is now part of our management team that runs our highly performing team of revenue cycle specialists and assists with on-boarding of our new clients. Her passion lies in making sure that all providers get paid for the work they are providing to their patients and will press on until the insurance company pays the provider accordingly. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
Kristin Walker -- Operations Coordinator
Kristin manages all operations for Health e Practices, including HR, onboarding new employees, client reporting, cash management and invoicing. Kristin brings a diverse range of business knowledge and experience to her role with Health e Practices, including previous stints in operations, HR, employee benefits coordination and event planning for GreenField Health and Apparel Merchandising and Design for Columbia Sportswear Company.
Misty Osko - Office Manager
Misty’s career path has included a range of administrative and operational roles where she developed skills managing the nitty-gritty details of various projects and events, while keeping executives and leadership teams organized.
She served as executive assistant to the president of Dark Horse Comics, the top publisher in licensed comics whose partners included Lucasfilm Ltd., 20th Century Fox, Sony Entertainment, and Universal Studios. She then took on the role as events manager – coordinating, and supervising the company’s presence at national conventions, trade shows, and specials events.
Misty’s career also included a stint at radio station KPAM 860 as the marketing and promotions director where she created marketing programs consistent with the station’s brand objectives. In addition, she managed live remote broadcasts, listener appreciation functions and national talent events.
Misty brought her many organizational skills to Health e Practices and currently serves as the right hand of the managing partner and a member of the leadership team.
